Security forces on Sunday killed active Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist Zahiruddin during an “area sanitisation operation” in Dewagar, North Waziristan, said Inter-Services Public Relations in a statement.
“Security forces conducted Area Sanitization Operation in Dewagar, North Waziristan, on the reported presence of terrorists,” the ISPR added.
During an intense exchange of fire, one terrorist named Zahid ud Din resident of Dewagar, North Waziristan was killed.
Terrorist Zahid ud Din was an active member of TTP in the Dewagar and Kharseen areas, said the ISPR, adding that the TTP terrorist remained actively involved in target killings, terrorist activities against security forces, extortion and planting IEDs.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has blamed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) for the attacks in Imo.
Adamu has, however, ordered the deployment of additional units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) and other Police Tactical Squads to Imo State to strengthen security.
Imo State Police Command Headquarters and the Headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) in Owerri were bombed on Monday.
Force spokesman, Frank Mba, revealed that the attackers used sophisticated weapons such as General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Sub-Machine Guns (SMGs), AK49 rifles, Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Each year, the 4th of April marks the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. This day highlights the important work being done to rid the world of Landmines, Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and the increasing use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
In 2019 alone, about 30,000 deaths and injuries globally resulted from the use of explosive weapons, with 66% of all casualties being civilians. Of these civilian casualties, 90% were in urban areas. In Somalia alone, there were 498 IED incidents in 2020, resulting in 1,244 casualties, including 206 Somali National Army members, 35 Somali Police and 14 AMISOM troops.
