CIDG director Maj. Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel said suspect Adel Sulaiman Alsushibani is a Saudi-based facilitator for the Southeast Asia unit of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) who maintains close contact with ISIS leaders in the region.
Among them, he said, are Esmael Abdulmalik, alias Abu Turaife, the ISIS-Eastern Asia sub-leader and Salahudin Hasan.
“Allegedly, he also attempted to bring other Arabs to the Philippines. He is said to be connected to the Ugur Suleyman Soylemez Orphanage sponsored by IHH Turkey Foundation,” said Coronel.
Also arrested during the operation was Norhaya Lumanggal, the 36-year old female companion of Alsushibani when the raid was conducted in Barangay Datu Balabaran in Mother Tamontaka, Cotabato City.

South: Intense fighting causes displacement and impacts humanitarian activities
Fighting between Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and a non-state armed group (NSAG) continued with armed clashes, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonations and air strikes reported in Kandahar, Hilmand and Uruzgan provinces which impacted civilians and humanitarian activities.
In Kandahar province, armed conflict was ongoing in Arghandab, Zheray and Panjwayi districts causing approximately 5,000 people to flee to Kandahar city. The main roads in Zheray and Panjwayi are closed due to the presence of IEDs. Ongoing clashes resulted in the suspension of humanitarian activities, including health and education services in Maywand and Zheray districts. Increased insecurity in Arghestan district may also interrupt humanitarian activities at the border.
