CREDIT HODAGTV By Katie Thoreson Rhinelander has a new city administrator. The Rhinelander city council unanimously approved Zach Vruwink’s contract Wednesday night in a special session. Earlier this week, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment contract with Vruwink. Mayor Frederickson hired Vruwink as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after the termination of former administrator Daniel Guild following his arrest. Council members had a few questions before voting mostly about Vruwink’s salary, retirement compensation, and travel allotment.

Interim Administrator to stay on in Rhinelander

By Chris Conley Zack Vruwink (WSAU) RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) –  Rhinelander’s interim city administrator, Zach Vruwink, had accepted the job full-time. The Rhinelander City Council unanimously approved Vruwink’s contract in special session on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment agreement with Vruwink. Vruwink was hired as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after former administrator Daniel Guild was fired. Guild was accused of withholding information that was part of a freedom of information request. Vruwink’s salary, $111,500 a year, is more than past city administrators. City of Rhinelander Announces Finalist for City Administer Position

Zachery James Vruwink will likely be the next Rhinelander City Administrator. Tuesday, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment contract with Vruwink. It still needs to be approved by City Council. Vruwink is the former mayor of Wisconsin Rapids. Mayor Frederickson hired Vruwink as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after the termination of former administrator Daniel Guild. Guild was charged after an investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff s Department regarding open records requests. Those charges could be dropped pending an agreement with the DA’s office. After Guild was terminated, Frederickson announced he had hired Vruwink on a short-term contract. Later, the council extended Vruwink s contract.
