Geoff Taylor, chairman of the Save our Steel Heritage group, which wants to retain the core of the furnace and illuminate it at night as a showcase for the area’s long and proud iron and steelmaking history, said: “We feel this has been a whitewash and are extremely disappointed at both the conclusion and how the process has been handled.” Mr Taylor said a report prepared by the task force had “no substance, no reference to documents used in its preparation and is very lightweight”, adding: “The people of Teesside deserve better than this and we are committed to seeking answers and appropriate scrutiny on their behalf.”

Martin Anderson, managing director of Lemon Business Solutions A HELPLINE to support businesses through the final stages of Brexit has been set up. Lemon Business Solutions has been appointed by Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) to operate a transition helpline for firms in the region. Lemon Business Solutions, a business outsource partner based in Stockton, will be providing contact centre services to help firms based in Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees understand the new post-Brexit regulations. The TVCA call lines went live on Monday, November 23 and will be operative 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the foreseeable future.
Tees Valley Mayor urgers Elon Musk to bring Tesla Gigafactory to Teesside THE North-East could be home to Tesla s European Gigafactory after regional leaders urge Elon Musk to bring the manufacturing site to Teesside, saying work could start as early as February. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen and Hartlepool Council leader Shane Moore have urged billionaire entrepreneur and founder of Tesla Motors to look again at building the state-of-the-art electric car in Teesside after the company was forced to delay construction of a new factory in Germany. In a letter to Elon Musk, Mr Houchen and Cllr Moore said that construction of the Gigafactory could start as soon as February 2021 and that the region offers ‘hundreds of acres of identified ideal developable land, with the can-do attitude in political leadership necessary to ensure delivery of major projects .
