Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is a non-profit rehabilitation hospital located in Grand Rapids with outpatient locations throughout West Michigan and the lower peninsula.
In Holland, Mary Free Bed currently offers adult and pediatric outpatient therapy in Holland at 3290 N. Wellness Drive, as well as orthotics and prosthetics services at 12662 Riley St.
“We’re thrilled to be part of the growing Holland Aquatic Center,” said Kent Riddle, Mary Free Bed president and CEO. “We’ll begin with the basics and add more specialized programs, some of which are unique in West Michigan. There’ll be additional announcements soon.”
Construction work on the expansion project began last year.

HOLLAND, Mich. â Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital has partnered with the Holland Community Aquatic Center to offer rehabilitation services on the lakeshore.
Itâs all part of the centerâs $26.3 million renovation project.
âOur tagline is Every family, every age, every day, â said the aquatic center s Executive Director, Jack Huisingh.
The center is getting closer to making that statement a bigger reality, thanks to a passed bond proposal to expand and renovate the facility in 2019.
Duane Schwartz is on the “more” list.
“I am a dead man walking,” Duane said.
Duane and his wife, Diane, live in Howe, Ind., coming from St. Joseph County. He works at Burr Oak Tool and Diane is employed at Remington Seed.
In summer 2020, Duane was the picture of health at age 59. He had no underlying conditions and practiced all the COVID-19 precautions.
The last weekend in August, he started “feeling funny.” He noticed it on a Saturday, again on Sunday and, by Monday, went back to bed rather than to work. Later, he went for a COVID-19 test.
“By the time the doctor’s office called with the positive results, I had lost my taste and smell,” Duane said. “I knew I had (the virus).”
