OLIVIA With a crowd of nearly 100 filling the high school media center in Olivia, BOLD School Board members selected High School Principal Jim Menton as the district’s new superintendent.
His selection at Monday night’s meeting came on a 4-2 vote, and only four days after board members had voted to start the selection process anew for a superintendent to lead the district that serves the communities of Bird Island, Lake Lillian and Olivia.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) Audra Martine, deputy director of the La Crosse County Human Services Department, has been appointed as the new county health director.
Martine, who has worked for the county since 2003, will take over for Associate County Administrator Jane Klekamp, who has been interim director of the health department since Jen Rombalski left in February to take a position with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

It took some getting used to, but sister Maria Minerva Morales is now a faithful user of a cell phone app where she documents her interactions with people she ministers to.
Through the app, Morales who is part of the Catholic congregation Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate documents the name, gender and age of the people she interacts with or those who seek her help. She notes whether it’s the first time she’s spoken to the person and whether they met up in person, over the phone or through Zoom. She also documents the nature of their meetings.
