Mary Baldwin University is launching a new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program in its Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences that will begin in August.
Students will pursue specialization as either a family nurse practitioner or adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, both of which are needed to help fill national healthcare needs.

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) - Members of the Staunton NAACP and other local leaders met on the campus of Mary Baldwin University to voice their concerns around the way Staunton mayor and several members of the City Council responded to the attack on the Capitol that took place in Washington, D.C. on January 6.
“It was important for us to make a public statement and a bold stand against the words of several of our council members and our mayor because those words are not just words. It is not mere rhetoric, it is violence and that violence shows up in their sentiments and in their policies,” Jazmine Brooks with the Staunton Chapter of the NAACP explained. “Those policies impact the daily lived experiences of citizens across Staunton. STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) Mary Baldwin University officials said they are preparing for the spring semester by starting the first week with heightened safety measures in place and testing all students for COVID-19.
All students will be tested for COVID-19 twice upon returning to campus. This will happen in two rounds.
The first round is scheduled for January 10 and 11. These will be rapid tests to highlight anyone currently infected with the virus.
