M boro driver allegedly caught almost five times over limit

The driver was stopped by police at Tinana on February 27. It will be alleged the man was driving with 0.233 per cent blood alcohol content, nearly five times the legal limit. The 54-year-old Maryborough manâs driverâs licence was suspended and he is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on March 31, charged with driving while under the influence. In a separate incident that day, police intercepted a man on the Mary River at Beaver Rock. It will be alleged that man was driving a power boat with 0.089 per cent BAC, nearly twice the legal limit. A 37-year-old Maryborough man was charged with driving while over the general alcohol limit and is expected to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on April 28.

Principal in court: More details emerge about alleged assault

Premium Content Subscriber only More details have emerged about an incident in which a Maryborough principal is alleged to have assaulted another man. Leon Alexander McKay, principal of Granville State School, is charged with one count of serious assault of a person over 60 and another count of interfering with a driver s control of a vehicle. The charges were mentioned before Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday. A legal representative for Mr McKay said footage of the alleged incident was yet to be reviewed. The charges relate to an incident in Maryborough West on December 10 last year, according to court documents. They allege Mr McKay was passenger in the car and assaulted the driver at the intersection of Walker St and the Bruce Highway.

Premium Content Subscriber only Stranded on a boat that had run out of fuel while fishing in the Great Sandy Strait, Ricky James Jessop made the decision to drink six beers. But it was a choice he would pay for the next morning. Jessop appeared before Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to being in charge of a vessel while over the limit. The court heard a group had been out fishing when they ran out of fuel. The group was stuck out on the ocean over night and had no water on board. Jessop had to stay awake overnight and drank the six beers remaining on the boat, the court heard.
