WEEKLY ZIP CODE REPORT: Maryland COVID-19 metrics continue to improve Posted on Overall Metrics As of Friday, January 29, 2021, there have been 350,629 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 6,918,308 tests, including more than 52,000 tests over the past 24 hours. A total of 6,900 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 1,616 individuals are currently hospitalized – a decrease of 152 hospitalizations since last Friday.  A total of 367 ICU beds are currently in use, a decrease of 57 beds since last Friday. More than 72% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (4,976/6,900). Maryland COVID-19 Mortality Rate by Age Group Thus far, the mortality rate for coronavirus in Maryland remains under 4.00% for those residents under 70 years of age.
