Henry Bruce Bolt, 67, of Chesapeake Beach passed away January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born December 22, 1953 in Anderson, SC to Waymon Douglas and Evelyn (Dunn) Bolt. Growing up Bruce lived all over the world his father was in the military. He settled in Maryland in 1969 and graduated from Surrattsville High School in 1971. Following high school, he attended Clemson University before beginning his career with Prince George s County Department of Assessments and Taxation in 1973. Eventually the counties became part of the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation and Bruce went on to have a successful 45-year career. Bruce was a past president of the Maryland Association of Assessing Officers, the Northeast Regional Association of Assessing Officers, and the Maryland Representative of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Commercial, residential property values increase in Harford County as economic activity continues despite pandemic

Property values rise 8 1% according to SDAT s 2021 reassessment

Credit: Getty Images Property values in the state are set to go up by more than 8% in the coming year. The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation says the jump in assessments, which are done every three years, shows an average increase of 7.5% for residences. And more than 9% for commercial properties. The news release from SDAT states there are more than 2 million property accounts which are split into three groups, each appraised once every three years. The Thursday announcement addresses a reassessment of 759,422 “Group 3” residential and commercial properties. The overall statewide increase was slightly lower than 2019’s 8.9% increase, according to the data from the news release. This represents an average increase in value of 7.5% for all residential properties and 9.7% for all commercial properties since the last Group 3 reassessment in 2018.
