Maryland Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud After Setting Fire to Her House December 17, 2020
After a lengthy investigation, deputies of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office have charged a Caroline County woman for intentionally setting fire to her house.
The fire was reported to 911 by a passer-by around 5 a.m. on June 15, 2020. The house was completely destroyed, and the fire caused an estimated $215,000 in damages.
The owner, Caitlin Hudson, was quickly identified as a suspect in the investigation, which revealed she intended to make a fraudulent insurance claim after the fire.
A Caroline County Grand Jury indicted Hudson on five charges, including first degree arson, first degree malicious burning, malicious burning with the intent to defraud, false statements to insurance and reckless endangerment.
