Maryland State Police Arrest Cecil County Man On Child Pornography Charges

(ELKTON, MD) – Troopers arrested and charged a Cecil County man early Tuesday morning after a Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation developed evidence supporting charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.
The suspect is identified as Edward Slicer Jr., 70, of Elkton, Maryland. Slicer is charged with five counts of distribution of child pornography and ten counts of possession of child pornography. He was transported to the Maryland State Police North East Barrack for processing.Beginning in October, the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit conducted an investigation into the distribution and possession of child pornography online. The investigation led to the identification of the suspect and his residence in Cecil County.

Anthony M. Mileo, 54, of Huntingtown
UPDATE: Anthony Michael Mileo, age 54, of Huntingtown, Maryland, pleaded guilty today to the federal charge of possession of child pornography. At the time of his indictment in January 2020, Mileo was a Corporal with the Maryland National Capital Park Police Department and was a K9 handler.
The guilty plea was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur; Special Agent in Charge John Eisert of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baltimore; Colonel Woodrow W. Jones III, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police; and Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey.
According to his plea agreement, on August 7, 2019, the Maryland State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit received a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possession of child sexual abuse material. MARYLAND – Maryland State Police say there’s been an almost 67 percent increase in tips regarding online child sex exploitation cases this year compared to last year.
Police attribute the spike to the fact that both children and adults are spending more time online due to virtual learning and social distancing.
According to the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit, cyber tips concerning the potential sexual exploitation of children have increased considerably over the past year. Through December 7, state police have received 5,433 cyber tips. This compares to 3,248 such tips for all of 2019.
Prince George’s County has received the most cyber tips this year, with 1,036 being reported through November, compared to 525 over the same period in 2019.
