CECIL COUNTY â A Maryland State Police helicopter crew rescued a stranded boater who had run aground in shallow water on the Susquehanna Flats in the Cecil County portion of the Susquehanna River on Saturday, according to agency officials.
The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched MSP Helicopter Trooper 1 to the scene shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, police said. The U.S. Coast Guard had vessels in the area of the Susquehanna Flats, but the boats were unable to reach the stranded boater, police added.
After flying to the scene from Martin State Airport in Baltimore County, the helicopter crew contacted the stranded boater, who then fired a flare into the air â which helped the crew locate the stranded boater, police reported.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD Three Delaware teens were arrested after a police chase that spanned two states and multiple Maryland counties, according to Maryland State Police. During the pursuit, two state police vehicles were hit when the stolen vehicle that sparked the chase rammed into them on Singer Road, according to authorities, who said no troopers were injured.
State police officials said they were contacted Sunday before 10 p.m. by Delaware State Police, who alerted them that a stolen black Jeep Patriot with Delaware tags was headed for the Maryland-Delaware state line. It was wanted in connection with several shootings that occurred over the weekend in Wilmington, Del., police reported.

(CECIL COUNTY, MD) – Maryland State Police rescued a stranded boater who had run aground in shallow water on Saturday in Cecil County.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 1, based at Martin State Airport, was dispatched to Susquehanna Flats in Cecil County, Maryland to hoist a stranded boater who had run aground in shallow water. The call was received from the U.S. Coast Guard who had vessels in the area, but were unable to reach the vessel by any means.
The Trooper 1 helicopter crew launched and once on scene, they began searching for the vessel. The crew located the vessel after contacting the boat operator and the operator lighting off a flare. The vessel was confirmed to be stuck aground in the middle of the flats and was inaccessible by ground or marine units.
A Cecil County man was charged with arson and attempted second-degree murder in a February house fire that injured four firefighters in North East, the Maryland Fire Marshal said in a news release Thursday.
