Two Children and One Adult Seriously Injured After Head-on Collision in Waldorf, Police Investigating | Southern Maryland News Net

April 20, 2021 On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at approximately 2:25 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Pika Drive and Leonardtown Road in Waldorf, for the reported motor vehicle collision with one patient trapped, and a child not breathing. Crews arrived on the scene to find a Hyundai sedan and a Ford pickup truck involved in a head-on style collision. First arriving First Responders found one child not breathing and a second child going in and out of consciousness. Due to the nature of the call and number of priority patients, incident command requested multiple helicopters along with additional (ALS) Advanced Life-Support crews to the scene.

Maryland State Police rescued a victim who was injured by a falling tree in West Virginia. Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 18,  Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 5, based at Cumberland Airport was dispatched to Morgan County, West Virginia to hoist a victim who was injured by a falling tree. Due to the multiple sustained injuries, steep terrain and the extended extrication time by ground, Trooper 5 was requested to perform an aerial hoist rescue. The helicopter crew configured Trooper 5 for an aerial hoist operation and arrived overhead. The pilots maneuvered the AW-139 helicopter into a steady hover position 180 feet above the rescue crews due to terrain and obstacles. A Trooper/Rescue Technician with medical equipment was lowered to the scene.

By Editor | January 20, 2021 | A crew of rescue and medical personnel with the Maryland State Police were called into Morgan County on Monday afternoon to assist in getting medical attention for a person who was injured by a falling tree. According to Lt. Nathan Wheelock, Commander of Helicopter Field Operations for Maryland State Police, Helicopter Trooper 5 res ponded to a call from Morgan County EMS shortly after 3:30 p.m. to assist in extracting a person needing medical attention out of a difficult area in the 10,000 block of Valley Road, off English Muffin Way. The area is south of Cacapon State Park.
