The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) Board will revisit the issue of mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for healthcare workers and could update guidance from 2020 that deemed the shots voluntary.
The Board of Directors will meet “mid-July,” according to a VHHA spokesperson. It’s not clear if the board, made up of 27 Virginia hospital leaders and the VHHA President and CEO, has met or will meet in the next week.
The Virginia Hospital Association guidance for the more than 100 hospital members was developed in October 2020, about two months before the first vaccine doses were distributed in the United States. While the guidance is not available online to the public, VHHA sent 7News excerpts of the document.
