Western Australia’s (WA) Premier Mark McGowan and Opposition Leader, the National Party’s Mia Davies, have both welcomed the new Chinese Consul-General to Perth, saying the state’s relationship with China is vital to the well-being of WA.
Long Dingbin a strong proponent of Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was positioned as the head of the Chinese consulate in Western Australia’s capital, Perth, last month following a four-year term as the consul-general in Lahore, Pakistan, during where he oversaw the continued development of one of the CCP’s biggest, multi-billion dollar BRI projects the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Military facilities not appropriate to be used as quarantine centres: PM
Speaking after National Cabinet today, Scott Morrison said that option had been ruled out. The suggestion that defence facilities can be used as immigration facilities, they ve all been assessed before, he said.

He said that hotel quarantine had thus far been enormously successful . That s been over one of the most intense periods of demand and stress on the system, he said.
Mr McGowan said it would not be the only change to hotel quarantine. We ve had two very significant incidents in the last couple of weeks involving hotels, he said. We re taking three hotels offline, we re reducing the density in other hotels and we re ensuring we have more space inside those hotels so that takes us down to 530.
Restrictions lifting
From 12.01am on Saturday, masks will only be required on public transport or at events and venues where more than 1000 people are present.
Masks will also be required in hospitals, disability centres, and aged care homes.
