Sky News host Sharri Markson says West Australian Premier Mark McGowan has taken the “drastic move” of placing parts of his state into an "extreme" five-day lockdown.
Reports of panic buying have begun to emerge following the announcement by Premier McGowan on Sunday.
Parts of Western Australia will head into a five-day lockdown after Premier Mark McGowan announced the state has detected a COVID-19 outbreak coming out of hotel quarantine in Perth on Sunday.
As a result of the positive case, the premier has announced a “full lockdown” beginning at 6pm on Sunday night and ending at 6pm on Friday for the Perth Metropolitan, Peel, and south west regions.
The man who tested positive worked at a hotel quarantine facility which housed four COVID-19 cases including the South African and UK variants.
