PSA about WCSU Zebra Mussels Monitoring Project at Candlewood Lake

PSA about WCSU Zebra Mussels Monitoring Project at Candlewood Lake Written by HH Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) has issued a Public Service Announcement (PSA) regarding their ongoing zebra mussel research. We are requesting assistance from the public in locating this invasive species while lake levels are low, they explain. Learn more here. Zebra Mussels were discovered in Candlewood Lake for the first time in 2020. The Candlewood Lake Authority (CLA) has expanded its existing monitoring program which includes divers, shoreline searches, water testing, and monitoring stations.  Since the beginning of the deep drawdown, the CLA has begun searching for additional Zebra Mussels on the exposed shoreline. We also want to thank the many residents who conducted their own shoreline searches and sent us their results. Learn more here.
