Nearly 5,000 Bags Of Heroin And Fentanyl Seized In Major I-91 Drug Bust

Read / Add Comments It was already a big bust, with police seizing meth, heroin, and cocaine, but when officers found a secret compartment in a truck they had pulled over on I-91 an even larger stash of drugs was discovered. Altogether, officers seized nearly 5,000 bags of individually wrapped opioids - heroin and fentanyl - among other drugs. On Monday, Jan. 25, around 1 a.m. Massachusetts State Police were patrolling Interstate 91 around the State Police Trooper-Shelburne Falls barracks when a Chevy Silverado allegedly sped by at 88 mph, police said. The speed limit on I-91, for the most part, is 65 mph. The trooper turned on his cruiser’s emergency lights and signaled the truck to pull over, which it did, police said. There were three people in the vehicle.

Valley News - Rivendell Interstate School District facing drop in enrollment, staffing cuts

Rivendell Interstate School District facing drop in enrollment, staffing cuts Modified: 1/24/2021 9:49:49 PM ORFORD Officials in the Rivendell Interstate School District are debating whether to propose staff cuts, including the elimination of at least one teaching post, to head off a possible $650,000 spending increase projected for the next school year. The proposal comes as Rivendell has seen a 4.5% drop in enrollment, in part from homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a budget forum last week, Superintendent Barrett Williams said that if the School Board takes no action, fixed costs could drive the district’s 2021-2022 budget up by about 5.7%. To prevent voters from facing that number at Town Meeting in March, he’s proposed two plans, both of which would trim staff and services.

It's All Downhill at These Seven Vermont Sledding Spots

Sledder on a Mad River Rocket Choosing the best sledding hills in Vermont is a fool s errand, akin to picking the best beaches in California or the best pizza in New York City. Once the Green Mountain State turns white, word of mouth and a modest amount of searching will reveal a plethora of opportune spots for getting your adrenaline rush on a long, steep downhill run. Still, it helps to have a few recommendations to get started. Bombing down Lincoln Gap on sleds may be great for a carload of teens, but it s probably not the best choice for families with small children. And, unlike at ski resorts, no one posts green circles, blue squares or double black diamonds on hills meant for sleds, toboggans, tubes and saucers.

Ski Lines: Section II skiers ready to race

Ski Lines: Section II skiers ready to race | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 No, not the blizzard last week that has all our areas open for business for the holidays.   (But that is a good one.) Instead, it was tiny Mayfield, led by state champion Madison Relyea, winning the Section II girls’ cross country championship last February, beating a field of rivals from schools with much larger enrollments. Remember the film about the small school in Indiana beating all the bigs to win the state basketball championship? Think of Mayfield as “Hoosiers” on snow.  Well, we now have snow again and Relyea is back for her senior year. She and her Panther teammates will be strong favorites in every meet.  But while skiing is among the handful of high school sports in the state that have been cleared to compete this winter, as of right now, championship events in all sports have been canceled. The focus will be limited to Section II rivals only.
