NEWNAN, Ga. Three weeks after a tornado ripped through Coweta County, federal help may soon be on the way.
Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock both toured the damage in Newnan Saturday. The two promised to petition the Biden Administration and FEMA for federal disaster relief.
The EF4 tornado and aftermath has yet to be declared a federal disaster. Warnock said Gov. Brian Kemp sent a letter to the Biden Administration Friday, and promised Georgia’s U.S. senators would send a follow up letter and press the issue.
Louisiana community college head will leave after 6 months

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) The head of a northeast Louisiana community college will leave after six months on the job, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System said Thursday.
Scott Rule, who became chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College on Jan. 1, is leaving June 30, a news release said.
Before coming to the college in Monroe, Rule was president of West Georgia Technical College in Carrollton.
“I have been trying to meet commitments and goals outside the college that I had planned to pursue upon my retirement from the Georgia system,” the news release quoted from his written message to faculty and staff at Delta. “I have come to realize I cannot do both.

Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Greg Dozier announced today that Dr. Julie Post, Vice President of Student Affairs at Gwinnett Technical College, will be the next president of West Georgia Technical College.
Post has a rich educational background in secondary and post-secondary education as well as higher education administration. After serving as a high school teacher and then an adjunct instructor, she joined Gwinnett Technical College in 2005.
“Dr. Post is a proven postsecondary leader within the Technical College System of Georgia with the experience and skills necessary to lead West Georgia Technical College,” said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. “She is committed to expanding opportunity to more Georgians through higher education and to continue developing a skilled workforce for our business and industry partners. Today is an exciting day for West Georgia Technical College and the communities it serves.”
