Isle of Wight cancels vaccine appointments after getting few doses from state

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. Isle of Wight County said that because of the limited number of vaccines it received from the state this week, it was canceling all appointments people made to get their first of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Workforce Development Center in Franklin and at the Smithfield Center in Smithfield.
The county did not say exactly how many vaccine doses it got this week or how many people were affected by the cancellations.

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - The Western Tidewater Health District announced Wednesday that it will move into Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccinations next week.
Based on the Virginia Department of Healthâs COVID-19 vaccination plan, Phase 1B includes frontline essential workers, people 65 years of age and older, and people between the ages of 18 and 64 who have a high-risk medical condition. A full breakdown of Phase 1B can be found here.

James continued âOur staff has done an exceptional job planning for this vaccine rollout and strives to continue to provide exceptional service to the localities we serve just as we have done through the entire pandemic.â

NDPH vaccination clinics are closed to the general public. Health officials say they will continue to prioritize Phase 1a healthcare workers for closed point of dispensing (PODs) until they all have the opportunity for vaccination.
Starting January 25, Norfolk residents who meet the Phase 1a or 1b eligibility requirements can preregister for a vaccine two ways:

If you are eligible, you are highly encouraged to use the online form due to long wait times. The preregistration process will add you to a waitlist within the specific phase in which you are eligible.
Under Virginia's expanding vaccine rollout plan, local health departments are now looking for large sites where they can set up mass vaccination centers.
