Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has urged the Nigerian government to learn how to handle cattle rearing in the country from successful performers.

Soyinka, who was addressing journalists in July 2019, also stated that cattle should not be a problem simply because Nigerians like to eat beef.
The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has alleged that some Yoruba people have been colluding with Fulani herdsmen to commit crimes in the South-West.
Adams, who spoke during a breakfast show on ARISE Television on Tuesday, said for insecurity to be eradicated from the region, the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly called Amotekun, must be allowed to function effectively.
Adams said it was unfortunate and worrisome that some bad elements in the South-West were collaborating with criminal herdsmen to perpetrate evil in the region.
He said, “Some people pressured me to talk about the happenings in Ibarapa (in Oyo State), Ondo State, and other areas in the South-West.

Operatives of the Nigerian Army on Monday again attacked residents of Okporo, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, killing about five persons.
SaharaReporters gathered that many persons were also injured when the soldiers stormed the community suspected to be the operational base of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The attack by the soldiers was said to be a reprisal after members of the ESN engaged them in a shootout last Friday.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has asked the new Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest and treat those igniting ethnic tension in the state as criminals.
Makinde, who said this yesterday when Onadeko paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan, added that attempt to fuel security tension under any guise that would threaten the corporate vision of Nigeria would not be tolerated by his administration.
