Chief Superintendent Carson Pardy, Commander of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in North East Region, is pleased to announce that Jeremy McDonald has been promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and is now the new Commander for the West Parry Sound Detachment.
Staff Sergeant McDonald began his career with the OPP in 2002 where his first posting was in the North East Region at the Cochrane Detachment.

He then transferred to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment in Central Region and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2016.
Parry Sound resident charged with attempted murder

West Parry Sound OPP responded to a weapons call that ended with a woman being charged with attempted murder.
The detachment got a call around 4:30 AM on Wednesday and went to the home on Bowes Street in Parry Sound. After an investigation, they arrested and charged a 39-year-old from Parry Sound with attempt to commit murder, mischief – destroys property, assault a peace officer, and fail to comply with probation order.
Police say the victim involved has serious injuries and is recovering at hospital. No other details were provided on the incident.
