This past week I celebrated my 42nd anniversary as a member of the Springfield Police Department. Forty-two is an important number today as I’d also like to recognize Jackie Robinson Day in Major League Baseball.
In the past two plus years I have been commissioner I am proud to say there has not been a single use-of-force complaint against anyone in our Narcotics Unit.

Today is a transition day as rain slowly heads in and we say bye to the sunshine for a couple of days. Although, eastern New England will stay pretty dry today, with sunshine near the coast early this morning.
Clouds increase during the afternoon with highs around 50, but in Maine with more sun we can see highs around 60. Western New England is already experiencing scattered rain and downpours that will slowly head east through today. The showers reach Boston by evening, and interior and northeastern Maine by tonight. Russ Fontaine has been promoted to senior vice president, Customer Experience. He is a seasoned banking professional with 30 years of experience in key management and leadership roles in consumer sales and service. Fontaine previously held the position of first vice president, Sales and Market Management with Country Bank, where he oversaw sales and service. One example of a new program introduced by the bank, as a result of Fontaine’s recommendation, was the deployment of a “Voice of the Customer” program that enables the bank to measure and better understand the overall customer experience through various survey metrics. In his newly created role, Fontaine is tasked with leading a bankwide collaborative effort to view things from the customer’s perspective; this applies to both the bank’s external customer and its internal customer.
