The commissioners will go directly to West Bengal after visiting Assam. The commissioners will attend series of meetings with political parties, state administration and election commissioners during its three days visit. Along with CEC and Election Commissioners the official team will also have Dharmendra Sharma (Director General, Election Commission of India (ECI)), Chandra Bhushan Kumar (deputy election commissioner) and other senior officials. According to top official sources, immediately after arriving, the officials will hold meetings with State Chief Election officer and state police nodal officer. Next day, the bench will have direct interaction with representatives of recognised national parties and state political parties. After which, there will be meeting with officials of election-related regulatory agencies.
West Bengal s ruling Trinamool Congress legislator from the Shantipur Assembly constituency in Nadia district, Arindam Bhattacharya, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. He joined the saffron brigade at the party s headquarters in Delhi after holding a meeting with BJP national General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. Our dream is to create Aatmanirbhar West Bengal and Aatmanirbhar India, which is also the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have joined the BJP responding to the call of Prime Minister Modi, Bhattacharya said. He added that the young generation in Bengal is not happy, as there are no job opportunities in the state.
Ahead of the assembly polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday inaugurated a slew of development projects in four districts from here and took a veiled dig at those who unveil a single project on a day and keep talking about it. The chief minister inaugurated 40 development projects in Purulia, Jhargram, Paschim Medinipur and Murshidabad districts from here through virtual mode. Some people are in the habit of inaugurating a single project on a day. But we are working on so many projects that we don t have time to spare like them. Before leaving for Kolkata today, I am inaugurating all these projects which may appear to be small but will create great impact, Banerjee said.
