West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee on Friday said he has not accepted TMC MLA
Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation as it does not conform to the provisions of the Constitution and the rules of the House.
Banerjee noted that Adhikari did not hand over the resignation letter to him personally. The speaker also said that he had no clue if the “resignation is voluntary and genuine”.

NEW DELHI: Suvendu Adhikari has resigned as a member of the Trinamool Congress.
Adhikary s resignation from the party comes 48 hours before home minister Amit Shah s visit to the state amid speculation that he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In a letter to the Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee, the former party heavyweight and key minister said he was giving up all the party positions held by him with immediate effect. Adhikary also thanked the chief minister and party chairperson for the opportunities bestowed upon him.
Several disgruntled leaders are rallying behind him, reported news agency PTI quoting party sources.
Hinting that a rebellion was brewing in the ruling party ahead of the assembly polls, Adhikari had on Wednesday night held a meeting with its disgruntled leaders, including Asansol civic body chief Jitendra Tiwari and senior MP Sunil Mandal.

Now it is not possible for me to stay with them. I have resigned from the post of district chief of the party, TMC MLA Tiwari said.
