A joint venture between Mace and Dragados has been picked to build the £570m Curzon Street station for HS2.
The deal will see the JV work with HS2 Ltd in two stages to finalise the detailed design and then build the landmark station. The decision also means that Mace has a role in building the two main terminus stations for the first phase of the new high-speed line, having previously won the tender to build Euston.
The JV beat a Bam Nuttall/Ferrovial JV and Laing O’Rourke to the Curzon Street job.
The station itself will be net-zero carbon in operation and adopt the latest eco-friendly design and sustainable technologies, including capturing rainwater and utilising sustainable power generation, with over 2,800m2 of solar panels located on platform canopies. It is designed to meet a BREEAM Excellent standard.
