The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has started the process of choosing a contractor to build three new stations on the Camp Hill line near Birmingham.
The contract notice states that the WCMA proposes to incorporate a Clause X1 into the building contract to alleviate contractor risk on material price fluctuations, partly due to the soaring costs and materials shortages reported across the country in the first half of 2021.
The contract notice states that “this will cover primary materials such as timber, concrete and steel and the codes from BCIS will be provided at ITT [Invitation To Tender]”.
The new stations are on the route between Birmingham New Street and Kings Norton and will support access for new train services that increase connectivity in the Greater Birmingham area; the stations will have an operational length of 150m so that platforms can accommodate six-car trains.
