Police did not find evidence of the two actually making ammunition, but did discover lead shot, casings, manufacturing equipment and a how-to leaflet on making rounds at the scene.
The found revolvers were identified as being manufactured in the late 1800s, although still fully functioning, while the “9mm handgun was capable of firing in both semi-automatic and fully automatic modes and had three unfired bulleted cartridges in the magazine,” Tang reports.
Ballistics experts examined all of the firearms, none of which were linked to any recorded shootings in West Midlands, the statement notes.
Following the raid, Carter subsequently admitted to possessing illegal guns and ammunition, possessing Class A (cocaine) drugs and cannabis cultivation. Simpson, for his part, admitted the firearms offences and cannabis cultivation.
