A NEW secure cycle parking facility has been installed on North Parade in Bradford city centre. The unit is opposite Bread & Roses cafe, and has been installed thanks to West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Cityconnect scheme - set up to boost cycling in the region. It is the first such bike hanger to be installed in West Yorkshire through Cityconnect. It takes up one car parking space on the street, and has space for six bicycles. It can be used by staff and visitors to Bread & Roses, and non customers can use the facility by getting in touch with the business.
The damage to Park Road last February Main repairs to a key local route are expected to begin in May. Park Road, which links Elland and Brighouse, was severely damaged by flooding in February 2020 and following the landslip has been closed since. A 50-metre long crack and some smaller tension cracks in the road meant that it had to be fully closed for safety reasons, says Calderdale Council, who sealed the crack when it was safe to do so after the flooding, to prevent further weakening of the slope. The council continued monitoring the road and seeking funding to pay for what it says is a complicated repair.
PLANS for a Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) station in Bradford city centre would be a ‘game changer’, according to the city’s businesses bosses. Bradford Business Improvement District (BID) has backed the proposal, saying it would bring investment and jobs to the district. Earlier this month, Bradford Council Leader, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, unveiled plans for a new railway station in Bradford that would extend the city centre and open in 2030. The plans are supported by the T&A which launched its On The Right Track campaign last month. The new station, which would replace Bradford Interchange, would be located where Saint James’s Market currently is, off Wakefield Road and Essex Street. It would form a vital part of NPR - an ambitious project to connect the north with a new rail network.
