CHARLESTON â The number of the COVID Delta variant cases in the state jumped from five to 12 in one day and Gov. Jim Justice said Tuesday the variant is âscary.â
âIt is scaring us to death,â he said of the Delta variant that started in India. This variant spreads faster than all the others and can be more dangerous.

CHARLESTON â Gov. Jim Justice called the West Virginia Legislature into session on Thursday and requested $250 million be allocated throughout the state government, including to education, tourism, and more.
âThe special session call requests that the Legislature consider over $250 million in supplementary appropriations that Gov. CHARLESTON, W.Va. Registration for West Virginia’s vaccination lottery opened Friday, giving West Virginians 12 and older an opportunity for getting at least one coronavirus vaccine dose.
Prizes for the sweepstakes named “Do It For Babydog: Save a life, Change your life” after Gov. Jim Justice’s bulldog includes $1 million, new trucks, weekend getaways to West Virginia State Parks, hunting and fishing licenses, custom firearms and two full four-year scholarships to any public institution in the state.
There will be a grand prize and runner-up prize of $1,588,000 and $588,000, in which the recipients will be announced Aug. 4.
