CHARLESTON Mitch Carmichael, the former president of the West Virginia Senate, is joining Gov. Jim Justice’s economic team, though the announcement came quicker than state officials had planned.
According to the state’s online phone directory, Carmichael is listed as the new executive director of the West Virginia Development Office within the Department of Commerce. As of Wednesday afternoon, the phone directory entry for Carmichael was still online.

CHARLESTON The West Virginia Economic Development Authority voted Tuesday to award the first loan insurance requests for four state internet providers who received winning bids in last Fall’s rural broadband auction, while a lawmaker continues to ask about one company’s ability to deliver.
The EDA approved loan insurance requests for Bridgeport-based Citynet for a loan up to $16 million from MVB Bank; Preston County-based Digital Connections/PRODIGI for a loan up to $2.6 million from Clear Mountain Bank; Bluefield, Va.-based GigaBeam for a loan up to $8.4 million from Citizens Bank of West Virginia; and a transfer of a loan up to $3 million for Buckhannon-based Micrologic from Citizens Bank of Weston to Citizens Bank of West Virginia.

The Executive Director of the Tyler County Development Authority (TCDA), Eric Peters, has served in his position for 23 years. He was a member of the 1968 graduating class of Sistersville High School and a 1973 graduate of Marshall University earning a degree in advertising and journalism. Thereafter, he obtained his master’s degree in 1976 in Media Production. Following graduation from Marshall, Eric was employed by the West Virginia Development Office in Charleston, WV working at the state capitol building. Eric is a nationally certified Professional Community and Economic Developer, and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, as well as the WVU Community Development Institute.

CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice announced today that Speedway Motors, a manufacturer, retailer, and distributor of high-quality automotive parts and racing products, plans to open a new distribution center in Kearneysville, bringing 25 new jobs to the state.

BEARDS FORK â If you wish to give to one of the housing, youth, education or health programs sponsored by the Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS), you can receive a tax credit for doing so.
SALS has been certified for participation in the 2020-21 Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP). SALS has been awarded $44,000 in tax credits to be given to donors. Credits can be awarded for donated property, building materials, school and office supplies, equipment, vehicles, stock and cash with a minimum value of $550.
Credits are available until June 30, 2021. However, credits given prior to Dec. 31 may be used on your taxes due for the current year.
