Residents across five states and territories have been told to rug up and brace for a series of cold fronts set to slam southern and southern Australia.
Severe weather warnings have been issued for NSW, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, with damaging wind gusts likely to affect parts of these four states and territories today and tomorrow.
In addition to the wind, some areas will also see heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail and snow.

While cold, wet and windy weather is typical over the southern half of Australia in winter, this will be one of the strongest weather systems of the season in terms of how widespread its impacts are.

Fixed wireless and wholesale network infrastructure provider Swoop has announced the acquisition of regional South Australian wireless broadband provider, Beam Internet, for an enterprise value of $7.2 million.
Beam Internet a large privately owned fixed wireless network in regional South Australia and offers fast and affordable high speed Wireless Broadband on its own network of over 60 towers and masts and has more than 3,600 on-net residential and SME services in operation. The Beam network covers the Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa, Kangaroo Island, Mid North, Murray Bridge and South East regions in South Australia, and also parts of the West Victoria and Mallee regions in regional Victoria.
The purchase of Beam will be made with $6 million in cash and $700,000 in shares.
The company has been on a spending spree since it debuted on the ASX in May. This latest acquisition comes less than a month after the purchase of two other telcos, Perth-based Community Communications and regional Victoria-based Speedweb.
Beam Internet is the largest privately owned fixed wireless network in regional South Australia and offers wireless broadband on its own network with over 60 towers and masts. It has more than 3,600 on-net residential and SME services in operation.
The Beam network covers the Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa, Kangaroo Island, Mid North, Murray Bridge and South East regions in South Australia, and also parts of the West Victoria and Mallee regions in regional Victoria.

Fixed wireless and wholesale network infrastructure provider Swoop has acquired South Australia-based wireless broadband provider Beam Internet for a total of $6.7 million.
Under the terms of the deal, which is expected to close in one to three weeks time, the publicly listed provider will pay $6 million in cash and $700,000 in its own shares for the provider, with $1.3 million of the cash to be held back for 12 months for any potential claims and adjustments.
