Microsoft regularly adds features to Teams, and each month it gathers together everything that s new into one place. While we cover the biggest additions to Teams separately, it s easy to miss a new feature or change. Here s everything that rolled out to Microsoft Teams in April 2021.
Microsoft s Tech Community post goes over every new feature in detail. We ll list all of the changes here and highlight a few that stand out in more detail.

Microsoft today detailed all the features added to its Teams collaboration service in the month of April, providing information on updates made to the various features and capabilities. These include improvements to Breakout rooms, polling, Teams Rooms improvements and updates about new devices, mobile app updates, and much more.
Starting things off are updates to the Breakout rooms feature. The tool now lets organizers reassign users to different rooms even if they are open. These assignments also persist across multiple sessions, helping organizers save time on assigning users to various rooms. Other meeting improvements include the option to set invite-only meetings, where uninvited attendees are sent directly to the lobby. The tool is introducing new policies to limit users with revoked scheduling permissions from using old meeting links
Large design
The Shure Aonic 50 over-ear headphones are the highest-end wireless set that the company sells and at $399, they compete squarely with the best from Bose and Sony.
For the most part, these headphones hold up. They feel very premium and robust, with a sound quality to match, but thereâs a catch they sound a lot better with a wire than they do wirelessly. That said, at their peak, they can outperform the Bose Noise-cancelling 700s. When compared directly, itâs a tougher call.
Built tough
When you first open up the box, youâll find that the headphones come in a rather large but very protective hard case. While itâs nice that they include a case, itâs made out of a soft-touch material that Iâm sure will get scuffed up after a month or so of putting it in a bag. As I mentioned above, the case is also massive. It comes in slightly larger than the already massive Surface Headphones case, but at least it’s protective.
Microsoft to reportedly unveil a dedicated app for its Modern accessories

Earlier this month, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop 4, and alongside it a whole heap of its Modern accessories including the Surface Headphones 2+, the Modern USB Headset, the Modern Wireless Headset, Modern USB-C Speaker, and the Modern Webcam. You can read about these accessories in detail here. Most of these are Teams-certified and come with a dedicated Teams button as Microsoft designed these Modern products with the current work-from-home situation in mind. And it s also a subtle way to promote Teams.
A new report today suggests that the company could also be working to launch a new dedicated application designed to customize and control these Modern accessories.
