SHS 3 students to report to school on May 5 – GES

+ The Ghana Education Service (GES) has rescheduled the reopening of schools for SHS final year students to May 5, 2021. According to the service, the decision followed a proposal from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS). “Management of the Ghana Education Service has considered a proposal from CHASS and has therefore revised the academic calendar as follows; 1. Reopening for Form 3 students has been rescheduled for 5th May 2021 This applies to all Form 3 students (single track and double track schools)”, GES said in a statement Tuesday. The previous reopening date issued by the GES was on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

Independence Day without march past

It is because the President has suspended the mounting of parades as part of activities to mark Ghana’s 64th Independence Day celebration. This situation has been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to observe the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Ghana Health Service (GHS) prescribed safety protocols which include social distancing. The government’s directive to the Ghana Education Service (GES) on February 11 stated that it was in line with measures put in place by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo himself to avoid large gatherings as the country continued to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

March 8 declared public holiday

March 8 has been declared a public holiday. A statement signed by the President rsquo;s representative at the Ministry of the Interior said the day has been declared a Public Holiday ldquo;in accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601) rdquo;.

CSSPS goes live Sunday - 343,264 Automatically placed

705 The 2020 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) into senior high, technical and vocational schools, will be live Sunday, February 28, 2021. Out of the total number of 533,693 registered candidates, 494,530 candidates qualified to be placed. Automatically placed In all, a total of 343,264 candidates have automatically been placed in one of their choices, while 151,266 qualified candidates could not be matched with any of their choices. A statement signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said “all such students are therefore, to do self-placement to select from available schools. “To access the placement platform, candidates are to obtain a placement pin code from an approved vendor, log onto the site www.cssps.gov.gh, enter the 10-digit index number and add 20 as year of completion,” the statement explained.
