The Management of the University of Jos has finally resolved its protracted dispute with Prof. Benedicta Daudu of the Faculty of Law of the institution, who was suspended in 2016 over an allegation of examination misconduct.
Following her suspension, she was asked to appear before a Council/ Senate Disciplinary Committee, but she challenged this in court.
It was gathered that upon further investigation, it was found that the allegations against Prof. Daudu were unfounded.
Based on this, the university reached out to Prof. Daudu with an offer of out of court settlement which she accepted and the terms of settlement between the University and Prof. Daudu were subsequently filed in court.

Authorities at the University of Jos have ordered students on campus to vacate their hostels with immediate effect until further notice, saying the hostels have been shut down.
The closure of the hostels is coming two weeks after the students and staff of the institution protested the suspension of the ongoing selection process for the appointment of a new vice-chancellor of the university.
The closure of the hostels is also coming amidst speculations that the National Universities Commission was bent on imposing a new VC on the institution to succeed the outgoing VC, Prof Seddi Maimako, whose tenure will elapse in June.

The official says the university has become a soft target for insecurity, hence the decision for the students to vacate the hostels.

The Management of the University of Jos, has directed the closure of all its students’ hostels over security threats to the school.
Abdullahi Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the university disclosed this in a statement sent to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) early on Saturday in Jos, adding that the hostels would remain closed until further notice.
According to Mr Abdullahi, the decision followed an emergency meeting between management of the university and other stakeholders, including heads of security agencies in the state, the chief security officer of the institution, students representatives and others, held on Friday, April 30.

The Management of the University of Jos has approved the promotion of 25 of its academic staff to professorial ranks in various fields, alongside 282 non-teaching staff to higher ranks.
Mr Abdullahi Abdullahi, the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the university, disclosed this in a statement, on Thursday, in Jos.
Abdullahi said part of the promotions took effect from October 2018, while others were from October 2019, all as part of the outcome of the institution’s recent promotion exercise.
“The promotions were approved by the university’s Appointments and Promotion Committee, Senior Staff, at its 136th regular meeting. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sebastian Maimako,” he said.
