Minister of State with responsibility for Skills and Further Education Niall Collins has said the mandatory hotel quarantine system in place is acting as a huge deterrent for people coming into the country.
Speaking on RTÉ s Saturday with Katie Hannon, Mr Collins said the current system was robust and that to include every country in the hotel quarantine list would be an absolutely monumental task for the State to undertake.

Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris TD and Minister for Skills and Further Education Niall Collins TD have today marked an important milestone as the number of women apprentices surpasses 1,000.
This was confirmed by SOLAS as Zoe Fitzgerald started an two-year, Accounting Technician Apprenticeship with Cork County Council.
Speaking today Minister Harris said: Five years ago, there were as few as 26 female apprentices. Today, we are marking 1,000 female apprentices. This is an important milestone for celebration. There is still much to be done and one of my key goals as Minister is to improve the number of people in apprenticeship, increase diversity and improve the gender balance.

Minister Harris launches new support and a one-stop shop for people seeking to upskill or retrain
Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris TD has today launched a new online portal for people seeking to upskill or retrain.
The online portal – www.gov.ie/therightcourse - is a one stop shop for businesses, employees or unemployed persons and outlines the third level options available to them.
This can be a short part-time course, a course for an individual in employment or an option to return to third level.
Speaking today, Minister Harris said: “There are so many options out there for people but the system is complex and can overburden some people.

The Taoiseach was accused of seeking to re-write history and denying reality in making his claim that the banks did not receive a €64bn bailout.
