Doogie Howser is returning to our screens in the form of
Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. on Disney+. The coming-of-age dramedy is inspired by the OG series but sets its own path in guiding Lahela through her ups and downs as an M.D. She is played by Peyton Elizabeth Lee from
Andi Mack and will be seen struggling with finding a balance as a 16-year-old prodigy with a career while also being a teenager trying to figure out who she is.

There’s no shortage of films and TV series covering Barack and Michelle Obama’s lives and legacy, from Netflix’s “Becoming,” a documentary portrait of the former first lady released by the pair’s own production company, Higher Ground to the scripted romance “Southside With You” and the “Frontline” political biography of the 44th president, “Dreams of Obama.” So when HBO announced its three-part series “Obama: In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union,” it was hard to imagine what new material or insights, if any, it had to offer.

HBO Max Offering Access to Select Free Episodes, In-App on Favorite Device

Beginning today, HBO Max will offer potential new subscribers in the U.S. the opportunity to watch select episodes of some of the platform’s most popular programming in-app before they sign up. The in-app offering is an extension of the long-standing sampling opportunities available via HBOMax.com and more recently, through Snapchat’s HBO Max Snap Mini, which allows Snapchatters to watch free episodes of HBO Max programming virtually alongside their friends within the Snapchat app.
With the launch of this new feature, viewers will now have the chance to take a sneak peek at the platform’s catalog prior to committing to a subscription, with the flexibility to watch a hand-picked selection of episodes in-app on their favorite supported device. The free experience will initially include 13 episodes of HBO and Max Originals, with new titles being rotated in and out of the collection periodi
OAK BLUFFS A crowd of well-known faces will be on the island this week for the Martha s Vineyard African American Film Festival. Academy Award winners Regina King and Spike Lee, California Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the daughters of Malcolm X and Muhammed Ali, musician/director Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, and Kenya Barris, creator of the TV show “Black-ish” are among the celebrities turning out for the film festival.
The 19th annual event will continue producer Run & Shoot Filmworks’ mission “of providing a positive environment where African American filmmakers can share their thoughts, ideas and aspirations” while also showcasing “the best in African and African American cinema.”
