Afoko Trial: l don t know the deceased mentioned accused persons to his wife – Ghana Visions

+ Mr Asigri Quinn, the third Prosecution Witness in the case involving murder trial of Gregory Afoko, said he could not tell whether the slain Adams Mahama mentioned the names of those who poured acid on him to his wife. “I came out of my house to meet the deceased crying and wailing together with the wife in the compound of their house,” he added. Answering a question from Afoko’s counsel, Mr Andrews Vortia, the witness, said even though he did not speak and understand Arabic, he heard the deceased reciting verses in the Quran and mentioning the names of Afoko and Alandgi Asanke, as those who poured acid him.

UE/R Peace Council Chairman commends YHFG, WANEP December 21, 2020 The Upper East Regional Chairman of the Peace Council, Alhaji Sumaila Issaka, has commended the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG) and its partner, the West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANEP-Ghana) and the European Union (EU) for contributing to ensuring peaceful elections at the just-ended general elections. It would be recalled that with funding support from the EU, the YHFG under the WANEP-Ghana Electoral Violence Monitoring, Analysis and Mitigation (EMAM) project, implemented series of activities including organising the youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) on November 5, 2020 to embark on joint route match and music concert during which they signed a peace accord   committing themselves to peaceful election before, during and after the election.

Upper East Region Wins Best GRNMA History Project Competition

  The Upper East Region has won the history project contest organised by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) as part of activities to mark its 60th Anniversary celebrations. The Association tasked its Regional executives in all former 10 Regions to constitute five-member Committees to write a comprehensive history of the GRNMA backed with 10 minutes video documentary on its events for awards. The Upper East Region subsequently formed their Committee with Mr Kombian Bisianin as Chairman, Mr Francis Wuni, Secretary, while Mr Stephen Adombire, Mr Bukari Kamal and Mr Godfred Aaneamenga Polkuu as members. The purpose of the competition was to enable the 60year old GRNMA to have its history properly documented for future reference and to inform future generations about the chronicle of events since the formation of the Association in 1960.

We expect adherence to collective bargaining agreement – CCT Mr Richard Sunday Yinbil, Upper East Regional Chairman of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) says the Association is expecting the next New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government to fully adhere to all agreements it had with teacher unions. He said, “In August, we signed a collective bargaining agreement with the government, and we expect the government to strictly adhere to it. “Towards the elections, people were saying that there are a number of allowances that teachers were benefitting from. “These allowances are in books, we expect the government to implement them as we agreed on. We do not want to go on strike, we love our students, and we want the government to adhere to the agreement.”
