ISHPEMING, MI Two Ishpeming residents have been arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team for being drug dealers.
Over the past several months detectives have been investigating suspected meth dealers. They obtained information that led to a federal search warrant for a city residence.
On Saturday, February 6 officers executed the warrant and discovered four adults and eight children in the house. One man was found to be in possession of 18 grams of crystal meth. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A woman in the house was also arrested on drug-related charges.
Detectives coordinated with the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office and Marquette County Department of Health and Human Services to have the children ages 2 to 13 medically examined. Officials believed some of the children had been exposed to or were using crystal meth.

MANISTIQUE An Escanaba man and a Manistique woman were recently sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for delivery of methamphetamine.
John Allen Tilot, age 36 of Escanaba, was sentenced in Schoolcraft County Circuit Court on Jan. 21 to a minimum of three years to a maximum of 20 years for a delivery of methamphetamine that occurred in the city of Manistique in October of 2020. At the time of the offense, Tilot was on parole with the Michigan Department of Corrections, and the sentence handed down on Jan. 21 will be served consecutively.
Also sentenced on Jan. 21 was Angie Jean Gwaltney, age 29 of Manistique, who was sentenced to a minimum of 14 months to a maximum of 20 years in prison for delivery of methamphetamine. Gwaltney’s case was related to an incident that occurred in the city of Manistique in June.
