Add one of the more intriguing class of 2023 in-state prospects to the June visitor list.
Indianapolis based Cathedral High School forward Xavier Booker has scheduled a June 23 unofficial visit to IU his AAU coach Mike Saunders notified The Daily Hoosier on Thursday evening.
The Daily Hoosier caught up with Booker on Saturday at the George Hill Invitational in Greenwood, Ind., and he talked about what he was looking to get out of visits this summer.
“Mainly just to look around the campus and see the facilities and see where I can fit in,” Booker said.
To this point Booker said he has had some preliminary high level contact with IU including a brief call with Mike Woodson, and the staff has let him know they have been keeping an eye on his spring film. Booker said he looks forward to learning more about the coaching staff and the program.

Indiana adds South Florida big man

Just four days after Indiana announced that Jerome Hunter was leaving the program, the Hoosiers have found a replacement for the 13th and final scholarship on the roster.
Former South Florida center Michael Durr announced this morning that he will transfer to Indiana. He ll be immediately eligible in 2021-22 and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jerome Hunter’s departure last week opened a scholarship for Indiana to use next season and it didn’t take long for the Hoosiers to fill it.
Former South Florida forward Michael Durr announced Monday morning that he’ll transfer to Indiana, giving the Hoosiers some added frontcourt depth in coach Mike Woodson’s first season. Durr, who will be immediately eligible, was originally set to transfer to Virginia Tech before he decided to reopen his recruitment last week. IU swooped in, secured his commitment and found a backup big to replace Joey Brunk, who transferred to Ohio State earlier this spring.
If you were to have designed in a laboratory a foundational five-man class for a new Indiana basketball coach in the 21st century, it would have looked a lot like the national top-10 ranked group Archie Miller signed in 2018.
In itself it constituted a modern basketball lineup with a pure point guard, three wings who were prolific high school scorers listed between 6-6 and 6-7, and a high-energy 6-8 forward who could work as a small-ball five man. That sort of length is also a prerequisite for the pack-line defense Miller brought to Bloomington, as Virginia’s best teams under coach Tony Bennett have been built on those body types.
