HARRISBURG, Pa. Following an election which saw record turnout, and depending on who you ask, uncertain results, elected lawmakers in Pennsylvania have introduced more than two dozen proposals to change the way future elections are handled in the commonwealth.
At least 25 bills, with more being added seemingly every week, are currently circulating the state s General Assembly and being assigned to committees. They include Democratic proposals to extend the deadline to register to vote, and allow for early in-person voting, and Republican proposals to enact voter ID laws and eliminate no-excuse mail-in voting.

There were two items in the March 13 Trib that caught my attention.
First was the front-page story about our illustrious governor saying that he wants to further increase our taxes (”Gov. Wolf seeks to phase out Pennsylvania’s gas tax,” March 12, TribLIVE). No news here, folks that is the only plan that he has ever had! As I see it, there are a few key points in this story. Since 2007 nearly $7,000,000,000.00 (even for a government program that is a lot of zeros) has been siphoned off from turnpike tolls to fund programs that have nothing to do with the Pennsylvania Turnpike. While we pay the second highest gas tax in the U.S., it is still never enough.
