PAYETTE â Four years ago, a heavy snow storm combined with ice rain came to be known locally as âsnowpocalypse,â thanks to all the damage it caused throughout the Western Treasure Valley. Even in 2021, the stormâs effects are still being felt.
At its regular meeting on Monday, the Payette City Council discussed how it will fund the replacement of the roof on the Payette City Hall and Police Department building. The present condition of the roof, as water damage from rain storms in the last four years has indicated, is not good.
Photos published in the agenda packet for this meeting indicate that snow and ice have caused accelerated wear on the roof of the building and reinforcement scrim is exposed. The worst damage is over the police department.Â
PAYETTE â After months of searching for a recreation director to reopen the Payette Public Pool and create more recreational opportunities for Payette residents, city officials have announced the selection of Tiffany Weimar as the cityâs new recreation director.
âMs. Weimar graduated from Payette High School and participated in many athletic activities,â wrote Mayor Jeff Williams in an email on Friday. âPrior to accepting this position, she served as an administrative assistant at Capitol Financial Solutions in Payette and is a personal trainer at Trifecta Gym. Recently she also spent time as the [junior varsity] softball coach for Fruitland High School. Tiffany brings experience and a proven track record of success in the Recreation/Fitness area, which will be invaluable in meeting the departmental goals and objectives.â

PAYETTE â The Payette Public Pool remains a very emotional subject for many Payette residents, especially now as the pool remains closed following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the Jan. 19 Payette City Council meeting, Councilor Kathy Patrick raised her concerns about the ongoing closure after talking to officials at Southwest District Health.
âI want to see something done, Iâm tired of excuses, Iâm tired of half-truths,â Patrick said to Williams. âWhat do we need to do to get you folks to hire a pool manager, so we can get this done? And why were we not told the truth? Several times, you stated Southwest Health District said we couldnât open and thatâs simply not true.â
