This is the new Hennessey Venom F5. It’s the American tuning company’s latest hypercar, which will offer fresh competition for the likes of the Koenigsegg Regera and the Bugatti Chiron SuperSport. Production will be limited to just 24 units, with each example carrying a starting price of $2.1 million (around £1.5 million).
The Venom F5 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V8 engine, Hennessey designed and built completely in-house. It’s a meeting point for high-strength components, with each unit featuring forged aluminium pistons, forged steel connecting rods, titanium exhaust manifolds and a billet aluminium intake manifold.
Power and torque figures stand at 1,792bhp and 1,617Nm respectively – enough, says Hennessey, for a 0–62mph time of 2.6 seconds. The firm also says the F5 will cover the 0–186mph sprint in 8.4 seconds, which is quicker than a Formula One racer. Dry, the Venom weighs 1,360kg, which gives the car a claimed power-to-weight ratio of 1,322bhp p
Progress updates for the Hennessey Venom F5 have been few and far between since its 2017 announcement, but just as 2020 comes to a close the Texan tuner has revealed the final production car ahead of first deliveries next year. Just 24 examples are set to be produced with prices starting at $2.1m (c£1.6m).
Initially scheduled to make its production debut at The Quail during Monterey car week this August, the production-spec car features substantial changes to design both inside and out over the prototypes previously pictured. What hasn’t changed though, are its ambitious performance numbers.
As previously confirmed, the Venom is powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged LS-series V8 that produces 1792bhp and 1193lb ft of torque running on E85 fuel. These peak figures arrive at 8000rpm and 5500rpm respectively, with the redline coming in at 8500rpm. When combined with a claimed 1360kg dry weight, it results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1317bhp/ton power-to-weight ratio, 300bhp/to

The supercar segment is in full transition mode right now. New, smaller-displaced turbocharged engines are quickly becoming de rigueur, electronic aids are more advanced than ever while driveability and liveability outside of racetracks is becoming a renewed focus. A perfect demonstration is the new Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which is suddenly here in Australia offering mesmerising plug-in hybrid power and flattering dynamics.
Right here, right now
The new 2020 Ferrari SF90 Stradale looks and feels like one of those futuristic pipedreams you see presented at a motor show (remember those?) – except in this instance it is no mere marketing hullabaloo.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife: 12.9-miles and 154 corners of tarmac that undulates its way deep in the Eifel mountains. Its constant changes in gradient and articulation make it one of the world’s most challenging circuits – a perfect place to test performance cars, and more recently a place to break records in the world’s fastest cars. It’s an amazing place, and with manufacturers fighting amongst themselves to break the sacred lap record, we’ve run down the top ten fastest of all time.
Though it’s far from an objective indicator of a car’s overall performance, there’s no denying that a machine with a Nürburgring lap record earns a level of respect from any enthusiast. As a symbol of pride then, not to mention a very useful marketing tool, the ‘Ring remains king.
