WASHINGTON The Department of Commerce has determined that passenger and light truck tires imported from South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam should be subject to antidumping duties ranging up to 98.44 percent depending on the country of origin.
Commerce s decision, published Dec. 30, is in response to petitions filed in early May by the United Steelworkers union, which claim tire producers from these regions are dumping their products in the U.S. at margins ranging from as low as 5.48 percent (Vietnam) to as high as 217.5 percent (Thailand).
Michelin expands mining tire portfolio with XD Mineworks

GREENVILLE, S.C. Michelin North America Inc. has expanded its range of 49-inch rim-diameter OTR tires for mining applications with the launch of the XD Mineworks product for 100-ton mining and quarry dump trucks.
The
XD Mineworks tire has a new tread pattern and a 66mm (83 32nds-inch) tread depth to deliver even wear on hard soil, the company said.
The tire incorporates advanced casing and high-wear resistance compound technologies for surface mining tires to handle heavy loads at lower pressure and is designed for balanced performance between tons per mph and and wear resistance.
On Jan. 8, 2010, Arrow filed for bankruptcy hours after attorneys for a Utah bank sued Arrow s top executives for fraud that allegedly cost the bank more than $15.1 million.
Three weeks earlier, Arrow executives had shut down operations, stranding hundreds of drivers with their freight around the country without fuel credit cards or money to get home three days before Christmas.

Michelin, BFGoodrich to increase tire prices

GREENVILLE, S.C. Michelin North America Inc. plans to raise prices on Michelin- and BFGoodrich-brand passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. by up to 5 percent on Feb. 1 due to changing business dynamics of the U.S. market.
The increase will affect select commercial offers to fleet customers as well, Michelin said, and complements a price increase on Uniroyal brand passenger and light truck products that went into effect in November.
Michelin last raised prices on selected Michelin-, BFGoodrich- and Uniroyal-brand passenger and light truck tires on March 16, by up to 7 percent in the U.S. and 5 percent in Canada.
