A 38-year-old Fort Myers man was arrested by Collier County deputies for allegedly “engaging in a complex fraud scheme across Southwest Florida.”
Brent Michael Acord was arrested on Monday on charges of grand theft over $750 and criminal use of personal identification, according to a Facebook post by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives say Acord stole someone’s identity and then used to open a credit account online.
With the account, a fake license, fake credit cards and a fake credit score, he purchased three generators from a Johne Deere dealer in Naples, the sheriff’s office said.
