OGDENSBURG City council tabled a resolution calling on the state to address blight at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric center Monday for fears that the move might impact the state prison closures, which have yet to be announced.
On Monday Deputy Mayor John Rishe garnered support from fellow councilors to call on the state to clean up the long vacant buildings at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.
Rishe said that the state has taken no action to stabilize buildings on the SLPC property that have been vacant since the early 1980s.

Vermont Business Magazine Attorney General TJ Donovan announced that Michael Powers, 27, of Bennington, Vermont, was arraigned today on two felony counts of Promotion of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, seven misdemeanor counts and one felony count of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, and one count of Resisting Arrest.
The charges brought against Mr. Powers are the result of a criminal investigation including the execution of residential and online data search warrants conducted by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC), including personnel from the Attorney General’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Vermont State Police, and the Bennington Police Department.
