Subscriber only A man who is charged with assaulting a young woman at a Caloundra beach suburb on Tuesday night, in an attack described as terrifying for a woman , has been refused bail. Lachlan Archer Hampson is alleged to have suddenly grabbed the woman, wrapping his arms around her stomach, as she screamed for help, in a Kings Beach street, just after 7pm. Police allege the Sunshine Coast woman, 21, had been riding and pushing her bicycle along a road when Hampson, 27, ran up and began asking her name and where she lived. Prosecutor Bimal Raut said the woman told the man he was making her feel extremely uncomfortable and said she was going one way and he should turn around and go the other way.

During the Urban Leagueâs recent Christmas food distribution event, lines upon lines of masked and yellow-safety-vested volunteers stood ready to pile boxes full of food and personal protective equipment into the propped-open trunks of the cars snaking around the parking lot.Â
This event came on the heels of 23 consecutive weeks of food distribution the Urban League ran between April and October of this year, giving out food to âaround 85,000 families,â according to Patricia Washington, the Urban Leagueâs vice president of communications.Â

Subscriber only FORMER Gold Coast Titans rugby league player Michael Gordon was a little fish caught up in a net when police raided properties across the Tweed and Gold coasts in November, his lawyer claims. Gordon, 37, was one of seven people charged on November 21. He was accused of supplying cocaine and ecstasy. Properties were raided at Casuarina and Terranora in New South Wales, and Robina, Burleigh Waters and Miami. Police allegedly seized cocaine, MDMA, steroids, more than $60,000 cash, mobile phones and drug paraphernalia as part of the wider raids. Gordon was allegedly found with a small amount of cocaine at his Casuarina property.
