Driver fined for going wrong up slip road onto dual carriageway A DRIVER who went the wrong way up a slip road onto a major Hampshire dual carriageway has been fined. Jenna Clarke-Williams, 36, was driving a 07-reg Ford Focus when she drove up the A303 off slip road near Micheldever on June 28 last year. She was found guilty of driving without due car and attention under the single justice procedure at Basingstoke Magistrates Court. Clarke-Williams, of Overton Hill, Overton, near Basingstoke, was fined £96 with a £34 victim surcharge and £90 costs as well as four penalty points added to her licence.

Robust management needed for future horse and trap racing events Hampshire s new Police and Crime Commissioner has said that a robust management plan is needed to stop future illegal horse racing events. The A33 was closed near Micheldever for much of the weekend earlier this month after hundreds of people gathered for illegal horse and trap racing. It is also planned to happen again next month - on June 19-20. This morning, Hampshire s newly-elected PCC, Donna Jones, meet Winchester MP Steve Brine to discuss the problem. Donna Jones was elected PCC of Hampshire and Isle of Wight earlier this month.

By Letters to the Editor Send us your views on the week s news Partial and full road closure occured along the A33 at Micheldever, as well as further north between Larwhistle and Woodmancott SIR: re; Travellers horse race returning to A33 bear Micheldever ( Chronicle, May 13). If the police can not handle this they should bring in the army. They are breaking the law. So what they are saying is, anyone can do this and nothing will happen. So if all the bikers got together they could do the same and there is nothing they can do. The chief inspector should resign, if they cannot uphold the law. This is disgusting that the police are too scared to do anything. It is time they did their job.
