Dine Out Maine: Behind the scenes of a coronavirus scare
Restaurants complain they aren t getting enough guidance on what to do when staff test positive for COVID-19.

All afternoon, I had been daydreaming about chicken panang curry. My cravings turned so acute that I began to smell coriander, galangal and makrut lime leaves everywhere I went, even while moving boxes in my basement. Fortunately, I’m familiar with “phantom food syndrome” and its cure. In this case, that meant dinner from Boda.
But when I visited the restaurant’s website, nothing worked. Strange for this to happen on a Tuesday, I thought to myself. Then I saw the succinct announcement on Boda’s Instagram announcing that they were closed until further notice.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27
The Maine CDC reported four additional deaths of people with COVID-19 since Thursday. The state death toll stands at 323 deaths.
The Maine CDC reported 333 additional COVID-19 cases since Friday.
Of the 21,880 total COVID-19 cases in Maine, 18,769 of these cases are confirmed by tests and 3,111 are probable.
187 people in Maine are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those 187, 46 are being treated in intensive care units and 19 are on ventilators.
11,150 Mainers have completed COVID-19 isolations.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26
The Maine CDC reported two additional deaths of people with COVID-19 since Thursday. The state death toll stands at 319 deaths.

TUESDAY, December 22, 2020
The Maine CDC reported 10 additional deaths of individuals with COVID-19, bringing the state death toll to 303.
548 additional cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday.
The additional deaths reported Tuesday were:
A man in his 90s from Cumberland County
A woman in her 80s from Cumberland County
A woman in her 90s from Cumberland County
A man in his 50s from Cumberland County
A man in his 80s from Hancock County
A man in his 60s from Kennebec County
A woman in her 90s from Penobscot County
A woman in her 60s from Sagadahoc County
A woman in her 80s from Somerset County
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18
The Maine CDC reported five additional deaths of people with COVID-19. The state death toll stands at 281 deaths.
The Maine CDC reported 436 additional COVID-19 cases.
Of the 18,337 total COVID-19 cases in Maine, 15,942 of these cases are confirmed by tests and 2,395 are probable. 10,744 Mainers have recovered from COVID-19.
965 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point during their COVID-19 illnesses.
